Connected Schools

Bringing a new era of connectivity to all the remote* schools in the country.

In an era of rapid technological advancement, many people remain without access to essential digital tools due to circumstances beyond their control.

Today, technology is changing fast.
But many people still do not have important digital tools.
This is not their fault.

Among them are children living in remote or low populated areas, where high-speed internet is unavailable. This lack of connectivity access hinders their education and limits their ability to fully participate in today's digital society.

Some of these people are children.
They live far away from cities.
There is no fast internet where they live.
That makes learning hard.
They cannot take part in digital life like others.

With the goal to ensure digital inclusion, remote learning access and modern educational tools, "Connected schools" provide high internet access to selected schools all over Greece.

The project "Connected Schools" wants all children to be part of the digital world.
It helps children learn from far away.
It gives schools modern learning tools.
It gives fast internet to some schools in Greece.

The project provides high speed connectivity, up to 300 Mbps, to all 574 remote schools* (>19.500 students, ~4000 teachers), all over Greece, for free, ensuring that every child has equal access to educational resources and the digital society, no matter where they live. They also provide a T-tablet to each school.

The project gives fast internet (up to 300 Mbps) to 574 small and remote schools in Greece.
More than 19,500 students and about 4,000 teachers use it.
The schools do not pay for the internet.
Every child gets the same chance to learn and be part of digital life – no matter where they live.
Each school also gets one T-tablet.

* Remote schools in this project are provided by an official list of the Ministry of Education. They are either located at a great distance from the prefecture's headquarters, or at high altitude, or on islands and/or in border areas, or are difficult to access due to specific transport conditions and usually have a small population.

The Ministry of Education made a list of remote schools for this project.
These schools are far from big towns.
Some are high in the mountains.
Some are on islands or near the borders.
Some are hard to reach because of bad roads or travel problems.
Most of these schools have only a few students.
